Commander pleases vet
Imperial Commander could still run in the William Hill King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day after pleasing his vet on Monday.
The Cheltenham Gold Cup winner has begun exercising again and the leg the nine-year-old cut when winning the Betfair Chase at Haydock earlier this month is healing well.
“He’s good. The vet has looked at him and he’s out exercising,” said the Naunton handler.
“We still don’t know if he’ll definitely get there, but things are all good at the moment.
“It’s healing up really, really well. We are not going to start cantering him yet, maybe on Thursday or Friday, but he’s out exercising on the roads.”
Imperial Commander is around a 7-1 shot for the Boxing Day feature.
