Coyle unhappy with Vela agent
Owen Coyle has criticised Carlos Vela’s agent for Bolton Wanderers’ failure to sign the Mexican on loan from Arsenal.
Vela has been allowed out in the second half of the season to gain further first-team experience and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was keen for the attacker to stay in the Premier League.
Bolton had spent much of the transfer window trying to agree a deal for Vela after Gunners midfielder Jack Wilshere impressed at the Reebok Stadium last season.
However, Vela opted for a move to West Brom on Friday and Trotters boss Coyle is disappointed at how events unfolded.
“The player’s representative sent me a list of figures he wanted added on to what was agreed,” said Coyle.
“What it would have cost would have been like the salary of a top, top Premier League player.
“He’s very good but he’s not at that level.
“We have dealt with Arsenal before over Jack and I felt when we had agreed everything with them, our chat with the representative was going to be about football, but there was a fee which was totally ridiculous.”
