Marseille can still win Ligue 1 title – Benoit Cheyrou

Olympique de Marseille midfielder Benoit Cheyrou is still holding on to his title dream as les Phoceens battle Lille for the Ligue 1 crown.

OM have won five of their last six matches to close to within four points of the league leaders but fell 2-1 to les Douges earlier this month.

The 29-year-old admits Lille are still the team to beat but feels his side have what it takes to pip them at the finish line.

“Lille are the best team at the moment, they showed that against us and they have their destiny in their own hands. But there are still 10 matches left to play,” he said, according to Ligue 1.com.

“We believe in our chances. We’re on a good run of five wins and just one defeat, and if we can continue to show the fighting spirit we showed against Paris Saint-Germain, it’s possible.”

Marseille will lock horns with Ligue 1 strugglers Lens on Sunday at the Stade Felix-Bollaert.
