‘LeBron James? He’s not available for Monday is he?’ – Kenny Dalglish reacts to news of Liverpool’s new shareholder
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has responded to news that NBA superstar LeBron James has become a minority owner of the Merseyside club by claiming he does not know who the Basketball player is.
It was announced earlier this week that James, who currently plays for Miami Heat, has become the first individual sportsman to be represented by Fenway, the business controlled by current Liverpool owners John Henry and Tom Werner.
In return, James now owns a small share of the Anfield club, but won’t be visiting the home of his latest investment in the near future due to his own personal schedule.
Speaking at Friday’s press conference, Dalglish said: “I don’t mean to be disrespectful but I don’t him. He’d probably say the same about me.
“But it’s the business side, the owners have done it, it’s marketing – I don’t think he’ll be available for Monday will he?
“Anything that can help the football club is going to be a great help to everybody at the football club, and I’ve said before, the owners are two good people, and people who act in the best interests of the club, so obviously it’s a business deal and a marketing deal that is to do with them and I’m sure they’ve made the right decision.”
