Oman 2-1 Tunisia: Kanu snatches victory from the spot
Ahmed Kanu was the saviour for Oman after he scored twice from the spot kick to give his team a narrow 2-1 win over Tunisia in an international friendly played at the Seeb Stadium in Oman this evening.
Kalou scored the first one from the spot-kick in the 9th minute but after a hard struggle, German–born Tunisian Sami Allagui who plays for Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga equalized in the 63rd minute.
However, it was Kanu who had the final laugh when he netted the second from the spot-kick for Al-Ahmar in the 85th minute to earn his team a morale boosting win.
The Oman team has had a lackluster performance in the last few months, failing to qualify for the 2011 Asian Cup that were concluded recently and which they graced in the previous two editions.
But with the narrow win, Hamad Al-Azani charges are possibly in a road to recovery. This is a blow for the Carthage Eagles who are chasing 2012 AFCON qualification and have crucial games against Togo and Malawi coming up.
